Why More Indians Are Opening Demat Accounts

The Indian stock markets have been thriving for the last couple of decades and as the economy has opened up and more companies decide to go public, it has led to an investment fiesta. A lot of the credit for allowing seamless access to the stock markets goes to SEBI, which has made investing more transparent. However, even the widespread usage of the internet is responsible for laypeople using the Indian stock markets to build their financial health. The internet has made it easy to access brokerage houses and trading apps. As a result, there is a sharp rise in demat accounts. 

Many investment specialists, as well as economists, are carefully following this trend as they want to understand what is attracting Indians to the stock markets and why there is a huge demand for demat accounts. There is a clear indication that investors from metros as well as smaller cities are keen to build their financial health and grow their wealth but it also speaks volumes about the trust and faith investors are reposing in the Indian stock markets.

While the stock markets have been performing like before, with bull and bear runs, it has not cooled down the demand for demat accounts.
